Stop Your Pain Now
Science has confirmed that inflammation is the underlying cause of nearly all chronic and degenerative diseases and the associated pain. Heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, asthma, allergies, auto-immune disorders, and so many other diseases are caused by underlying inflammation.
Fortunately, there are ways to reduce inflammation and, in the process, quickly lose weight and regain optimum health. There are 2 books on the market today that address this issue.
The first book is called The Plan and is written by nutritionist Lyn-Genet (http://lyngenet.com/). It is available on Amazon. On this plan, there is a 21-day menu, all outlined with explanations and wonderful recipes. There are 3 meals required each day plus snacks. The plan has an initial 3 day cleansing fast that contains a lot of food.
You won’t feel hungry on this diet. Once the initial cleanse is completed, different foods are brought in each day to “test” to see if they cause inflammation. The author also discusses thyroid issues, some supplements and requires purchasing a thermometer and digital scale (if you don’t already own one) to test your bodies’ reaction to foods adequately.
Inflammation is seen as weight gain and is measured in the morning on a digital scale.
The downside of this plan is it does require a lot of work to prepare the food exactly as is outlined in the book. Some people may find it overwhelming if they have busy schedules or if they don’t cook much.
If people are looking for a specific way to eat that works for weight loss, this is a good plan, though. However, there are a few foods I would eliminate from the plan that is offered.
This plan tells you to test every food, chocolate, wine, potato chips, everything! However, beware if you have addictive food issues or you are an emotional eater as you may not stop at the few ounces of potato chips recommended.
It appears that the author does much of her shopping at Trader Joe’s, which some do not consider a quality health food store. She recommends a few foods, such as Barbara’s puffs — a cereal with extruded grains that I don’t recommend. However, removing foods that are not considered healthy makes this a good diet for anyone looking for specific guidelines to lose weight and increase health.
The second book is The Abascal Way by herbalist Kathy Abascal (http://toquietinflammation.com/). This book discusses inflammation in health issues and weight loss. This diet is also 21 days; however, the whole 21 days is a complete cleanse, eliminating many foods such as wheat and dairy. This book doesn’t have a menu outlined or specific things to eat, but when you purchase this book, it comes with a recipe book that has some good recipes in it as well.
On this diet, Kathy makes recommendations for each meal and again requires snacks on the first 21 days. This book was written in 2011, and the author recommends eating soy products (which many people have issues with unknowingly). I typically don’t recommend it because the Cornucopia Institute study on soy shows that almost all soy is processed with hexane. More recently, most soy on the planet is genetically modified.
There are lists of foods to eat and not-eat and lists to eat with other foods. The main premise here is to eat 2/3 vegetables with meat or other foods on the list.
Both diets are a great way to eliminate toxic foods from your diet, helping your health overall.
There is another solid indirect resource for eliminating inflammation and weight called Speed Keto. Speed Keto is a way to do the popular keto diet without having to count carbs. They offer several delicious recipe books you can purchase and a Facebook support group. Thousands of people have lost weight on Speed Keto and in the process have also eliminated a plethora of health issues. Eliminating foods that cause inflammation isn’t rocket science, but following these plans helps to provide some parameters and thwart cravings better than going solo.
There are choices out there to regain your health and eliminate pain. They require changes on your part to make it happen but are totally worth it in the end.
As always, you are empowered to make the best choices for your health.
