Are you feeling tired, dragged out and listless? You’re not alone. So many people walk into our store and say “I am so tired, what can I take for energy?” Before we recommend products that might be useful, we try to help them find out what is going on in their life and body that is causing this exhaustion. First – What
type of fuel are you feeding your body? Here is analogy that may help make it clearer. When we burn food, which is what happens when food reaches our stomach, there is an actual chemical reaction that happens—just like a chemist produces in a test tube. The acid in our stomach helps to break down the chewed food, producing by-products of “energy” which we use and “toxins” which many people don’t think about. When you burn wood, you create by-products also of heat or energy, and toxins in the smoke and ash. When you burn plastic, you get very little energy as it burns so incredible fast, but you get an extreme amount of toxins that can be very dangerous. When you eat organic food, it is like burning the wood. Digesting organic foods leaves a normal amount of toxins for your body to handle. When you eat inorganic food, you are now exposing your body to antibiotics, steroids, pesticides, hormones, synthetic ingredients and things we aren’t even aware of. This creates an excessive amount of toxins for our bodies to deal with. It’s like carrying around cans of garbage around with us. No wonder people are so tired! Eating the wrong types of foods also affects blood sugar levels, which not only lead to diabetes, but also exhaustion. This happens because the blood sugar levels spike too high when the incorrect food is eaten, and then crash causing exhaustion. Also, what type of energy is being put into your food? Many people eat fast/junk food where there may be some person slapping the food together without a positive attitude. Who wants to eat that? Make sure your food is prepared with love, either by yourself or someone you know that is putting positive energy in your food and not their anger or frustration to be passed on to you. Second – In
what type of an environment do you live and work? If you aren’t sure this is an area that
maybe helpful to you, ask yourself these questions: If you are looking for answers in this area, it maybe helpful to find a therapist or life coach to help you shift the way you are looking at things to what would be most accommodating for you and your life. Exercising is another way to help your body eliminate the negative energy you may be receiving from these environments. Third – What
is your Self-Talk saying to you in your head? Fourth – Could
an organism be causing the problem? If all of this is working appropriately, there are some products that assist with increasing energy. Nutritional products Bee pollen has traditionally been used to treat allergies, improve stamina/energy and add longevity. It contains about 30% protein and over 50% carbohydrates. Its folk use as a concentrated, complete energy food is derived from the fact that bees produce lots of energy for their tiny size. Hence, the term “busy as a bee.” Spirulina is blue-green algae that grows in fresh water and has been harvested for over four centuries for animals. It is a highly concentrated source of protein, vitamins and minerals. Spirulina is a great energy booster for pregnant women as well as other people looking for a boost. The drawback of spirulina is that it can be quite expensive. Make sure the company you purchase it from is reputable, ensuring the quality of the supplements (for example: That is not grown in contaminated water). Ginseng is available in many different types, each with different properties. The most popular ginsengs are Panax or Korean, which is most often used by men, but can be taken by women for some menstrual issues. Wild American ginseng is another that is often used for respiratory ailments. Lastly, there is Siberian Ginseng, which isn’t even a real ginseng, but a cousin of Panax ginseng. The herb industry is changing the name back to it’s original Latin name Eleuthrococcus. Make sure you know what type of ginseng you are taking. Licorice root is often used to raise or balance blood sugar levels and is often found in herbal formulas for this reason. It helps to boost energy via the blood sugar levels. Alfalfa is not only fed to animals but can also be taken by people as a great mineral source and a mild energy booster. Sometimes when people are out of energy, it can be the result of a mineral deficiency and alfalfa may help. Alfalfa has a taproot that goes deep into the soil grabbing important minerals. Minerals or trace minerals are readily available in stores today, and can help give important, needed energy. Be selective among the many different types available, making sure you get a brand that isn’t loaded with sweeteners. And make sure you know the source of the minerals. Flower essences work on emotional and physical symptoms. If your energy drain is caused from an emotional drain, flower essences may be a way to help you overcome it easily. There are many different flower essences on the market that were originally discovered by Dr. Bach. Three that are particularly good for exhaustion are Elm, Hornbeam and Olive. Homeopathics work on the energy of the cell, where as herbs and nutrients work on feeding the cell. Using homeopathy with herbs is an effective way to cover all bases and to make sure the cells have what they need to create optimum results. There are homeopathics on the market that can help with energy and also help you exercise more. Essential Oils can help clear your head/mind and wake you up. Some oils that act as stimulants are Peppermint, Lemon, Orange and Mandarin. Make sure you are purchasing the highest quality oils, otherwise as you inhale the oils for your boost, you may also be inhaling impurities, which can be toxic, instead of helpful. Start investing in yourself. Money spent in preventing and avoiding disease through proper health practices is more valuable than a retirement account. How many people reach retirement age with no energy and so many illnesses that they are unable to enjoy the leisure for which they have worked so long? Most natural health recommendations do not cost much and may actually save money. Pampering yourself each day, going for a walk, cooking vegetables for less time or not at all, and chewing your food more, don’t cost anything, but they all do a world of good for your stress level, and nutritional absorption. Getting your energy back doesn’t always happen naturally over night. It can take up to three months to reverse any damage, eliminate toxins, etc and one month for every year you have had the problem. But if you don’t start now, it will only get worse. You can have the energy to work and play with
joy. Just think that what you do to keep your body in a maximum state
of health is like putting
money in a bank. There’s more than one way to feel wealthy!
